Bloggers: Win weekly cash prizes by writing a blog for UBC students! Anyone can enter their blog or other media (newspaper, radio station etc.). There's no entry fee. Just email Mark Latham (mark[at]votermedia.org) your blog's URL or other description, and say you agree to the contest terms. It's easy to create a blog with free tools like WordPress or Blogger.

Award Pool: $200 per week if only 4 contestants, increasing to $300 a week as we get more entries.

Voters: Any UBC student can vote -- log in and register for the VoterMedia "course" here, or search for it here. Once you've registered, you can return to vote at www.vista.ubc.ca. We plan to count votes every Thursday afternoon/evening. We suggest voting once a week, but you can vote whenever you want; only your last vote will count. If your last vote is in the latest week, it counts 100%; 1 week old counts 80%; 2 weeks old 60% etc. Votes over 5 weeks old not counted. See names of who voted.

Ballot: You vote by typing in how much award you would give each media/blog. Max weekly award $100. Similar to the Vancouver Election Blog Awards ballot.

Dates: Entries and voter registration from September 14, 2008. Voters registered in the March-June 2008 contest are already registered for this contest too. Voting from September 18. Contest will run until probably at least February 2009.

Judging Criteria: Voters can evaluate contestants any way they choose. Contestants can appeal to voters any way they choose.

University of British Columbia's Alma Mater Society is coordinating with VoterMedia.org founder Mark Latham, who is sponsoring and administering this contest. Our goals are to promote student awareness and engagement in AMS issues and elections.
